When we think of classic cocktails, one drink that instantly comes to mind is the whiskey sour. Classically made with whiskey, citrus, and sugar, this seemingly simple cocktail can easily be put off balance if the ratio of your ingredients is off. But never fear! With this simple recipe, your whiskey sour is sure to make you feel like you are at a high end cocktail lounge every time you make it. Lose the pre-made sour mix and swap for equal parts of freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice. Trust us, when it comes to sour mix, fresh squeezed citrus is the absolute best way to go!

Instructions

Step 1
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Combine whiskey, lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup in the shaker. Cover, and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is extremely cold and begins to frost, about 20 seconds. Place large ice cube in a rocks glass and strain cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer over the ice.

Step 2
Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. Enjoy!
